Somebody please tell me why I was wrong. My wife and I had a yard sale this past weekend with some of our new in-laws. A car passes the house and a mans wallet came flying out. Money started going everywhere. My wife and I dodged traffic in an attempt to collect the money. Along with the cash we found three forms of I.D. to the man to whom it all belonged. Here is my problem. I called 9-1-1 and turned it all over to the police. Now people are telling me that I should have kept the money and kept my mouth shut. I can not see where I was wrong. BTW there was seversl hundred dollars involved here.

You did the right thing, because it was the right thing to do.
Their insistence of keeping the cash is just another example of the steadily declining morals in our land.

It is better to make the right decision, rather than the popular decision. The decision you made set the precedent for how you are judged and how you judge others. Unfortunately, it seems that the right decision to make in many situations is not the most apparent to many people. You should be able to sleep easily knowing you did right.

I would find some better people to hang out with instead of the no class trash that said to keep the money when you knew whose it was and was more than able to get it back to the rightfull owner.
